Endowment Legacy Giving

To ensure our Y can continue to make a meaningful and enduring impact on our community, consider an endowment and planned gift that will provide a permanent source of funding for the Y.

Planned giving is easy and you don’t have to be wealthy to do it. Whether it is naming the Y in your will or trust for a modest amount, a gift of house or property, stocks, or business holdings, there are many options that can be tailored to best fit your needs.

Most of all, when you leave a legacy to the Y through a planned gift, you help ensure that the good work like ours continues in your name. Call Dorry at 509.662.2109 to explore your planned giving options or check out Give10 at the Community Foundation of North Central Washington.

Robert Storey’s Legacy Through The Y

"Real Men Like Flowers"

These were some of the last words spoken (with a smirk) by a recent Y benefactor and former member, Robert Storey, just before he passed, to a Y employee who was lucky enough to have spent time with him that day. Despite his profound humility, Bob was many wonderful and colorful things. Despite his relatively solitary life, he has touched many, even now that he's passed away.

Two of his memorable qualities, and now part of his legacy, were his exceptional artistic skill and his intense focus on what truly matters in our brief time here. His artistry came through in his career as a draftsman and continued into sweeping scenes of life-like paintings of nature across the northwest. Even photography was part of his repertoire, leading to his absolute favorite image, a close up shot of pink rhododendrons, and the sentiment about 'real men'.

For most of us, it can be hard to imagine sewing our own clothes, riding a bicycle for transportation, and using the library regularly in lieu of most digital inventions. Bob turned these into opportunities for visits and keeping community connections, getting exercise and fresh air, and staying engaged with personal interests and contemporary issues.

Thank you, Bob, for having the foresight and taking the time for what truly matters and generously passing that on so that we at the Y can do the same.
