The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is an evidence based program designed to reduce the risk of developing diabetes in individuals with prediabetes or at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. The program is classroom based and delivered over 12 months in a small group setting. It consists of 16 weekly core sessions followed by monthly maintenance sessions. Each one hour session is facilitated by a trained Lifestyle Coach. Sessions will cover healthy eating, physical activity and behavior modification to help participants lose a modest amount of weight and increase their physical activity in order to reduce their chances of developing diabetes. Sessions begin based on demand.
