Healthy Kids Day
Healthy Kids Day will also be happening on Saturday morning March 20 in the YMCA gymnasium. Supervised games, climbing wall, Sport Wall, gym activities and drawings for prizes will take place from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. Healthy Kids Day is for children age 6-15 and is free to the public.
Y-Splash
Y-Splash is a free program that teaches children age 3-12 to be safe in and around the water. A series of five lessons will led by trained instructors at the Eastmont YMCA Aquatic Center from March 29-April 2. Registration for a maximum of 300 spaces begins on March 20 at the YMCA.
Annual Meeting
The YMCA Annual Meeting will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 pm on Tuesday April 13, 2010 at the Wenatchee Valley YMCA, located at 217 Orondo in Wenatchee. All YMCA members and donors are welcome to attend.
YMCA Centennial
One hundred years ago, a group of people met to discuss the needs of boys and young men in Wenatchee and decided the organization of a Young Men’s Christian Association could give direction to the leisure time of youth and stimulate the development of Christian character. Programs have changed over the years, but the YMCA’s commitment to kids and community has seen it through two world wars, the depression, a variety of social struggles and multiple economic downturns.
Throughout its history, the YMCA has been blessed with community leaders who had the capacity to dream big dreams and were then willing to commit themselves to the fulfillment of those dreams. It is our sincere hope that our Centennial celebration will inspire future generations to build upon the firm foundation of the Wenatchee Valley YMCA’s first 100 years.
